Final farewell for the week!

We capped off a successful week with two students being awarded with certificates in assembly. Congratulations to Byesion who has produced fantastic work this week, and to Rose, who has been a reliable, hardworking role model for her classmates.

Rose also got a Kaitiakitanga ticket for picking up rubbish in our school, without being asked. She did this with Isabella (who got a certificate yesterday!) and Mariam.
Have a great weekend everyone.

A Week 4 update!

Congratulations to these three fantastic students, who received Caught Being Good certificates today. All three really impressed during the week (and, indeed, the whole year so far.)

The students came up with creative drama freeze-frames to represent our school value of manawanuitanga. Each scene cleverly showed this in action. Congratulations to everyone involved. We later used our knowledge of the school values to form our Class Treaty, which will be a promise to each other about how we learn and treat each other in Room 8 this year.

Please bring swimming togs tomorrow - we are swimming in the last lesson.

Impressive learners shining in their first day back after lockdown!

Congratulations to these fantastic members of Room 8, who were recognised with a certificate during our Kauri Team assembly.

Remy has been a polite, helpful leader in our class. Litiane got involved in online learning during our lockdown this week, and produced a strong piece of writing she was very proud of during today's literacy session.

Please find below two other impressive entries, designed by learners in Room 8. Don't forget to check out each other's blogs also.

Feel free to leave a comment - who else has really impressed you in Room 8 so far, and why?

Show you care! Follow the Kawa of Care!

Kia ora koutou,

For the last two weeks we have had Cybersmart sessions with Phil where we have been learning about how to look after our Chromebooks by following the Kawa of Care.

Here is Marcella and Liberty's amazing Google Drawing comic strip to teach other people about how to follow the Kawa of Care.

If you can think of some other ways to look after our Chromebooks then write them in a comment...

Great End to the Week

We had a fantastic week in Room 8. We celebrated the success of many of our learners at school assembly. A huge congratulations to George and Mariam who were deserving winners of our school certificates. Charlotte and Kato were also recognised after their tickets were drawn in our School Values Draw.

'Fairy Judy' fluttered into our classroom and gave out some certificates and prizes to these fantastic people on Thursday. These students have shown commitment to their learning by reading every night at home and sharing that reading with their parents. They returned completed reading logs, which has SUCH a positive impact on their education. Congratulations to:

Remy
Mila
Phoenix
Mariam
Charlotte
Jarvis
Zac
Liberty
Marcella

Home learning went home today. Each student received a reading log, and a basic facts booklet to work on during school nights. More information is available in the booklets themselves. Please ensure that you check in with your child, so they can show you their expectations for home learning this term.

Please remember for next week:

- Swimming togs
- Home learning booklets on Wednesday
- Closed shoes for Bike Safety lessons on Thursday
- Sunhats
- Check the blog regularly for updates

Have a safe and happy weekend!

Congratulations to Zach and Etena, who were our Duffy Caught Being Good certificate winners this week.

Both students brought a fantastic attitude to the classroom over our first week. Zach impressed with his enthusiasm and his commitment to achieving highly. Etena has been a friendly, positive young man right from Day One, and worked well with a range of different students and teachers during Week One.

We are looking forward to seeing two new award winners being celebrated tomorrow, at school assembly.
